Our Waste Audit
Katherine Usher from GRAB visited the school recently to do a waste audit. Katherine explained to pupils that she was going to weigh all of our rubbish from one day in school to get an idea of how much we throw away each session.
Katherine was pleased that we didn't have too much rubbish and that we already recycle our paper. We spoke about litter and she discussed a few ideas for us to try this year.
After lunch, Katherine visited the school kitchen where they had kept all the peelings and leftovers that could be recycled. Katherine was very pleased that we recycle all big tins and that old cooking oil is collected to make fuel.
Now that Katherine has all the details for our audit of waste, she is going to take the information to Bute Produce who are going to collect from us and make compost for their fields and for our garden.
